The door is the only difference from the glass version
That is not a figure of speech: they share capacities, internal and external measurements millimeter for millimeter, power draw, number of shelves, refrigerant, evaporator and set of alarms. The only thing that changes is the door —monolithic cyclopentane foam instead of electrically heated glass— and, as a consequence, the weight.
This version weighs between 3 and 8 kg less: 18, 32, 52 and 63 kg against the 21, 38.5, 59.5 and 71 kg of the glass one.
The solid door does not insulate better, according to the manufacturer itself
It is the first thing anyone would assume, and the catalog says the opposite: the declared power draw is identical on both versions —85, 130, 180 and 180 W— and so are temperature uniformity and stability.
So the decision is not a thermal one. It is whether it is worth seeing the contents without opening, which is what the glass solves, or whether it is worth having the contents in the dark and shielded from light, which is what this door solves.
It shares the limits of the economy line
Temperature precision of 1 °C and not 0.1 °C; HIPS interior; no USB port; no casters on any model; and the set of alarms covers high and low temperature, thermostat failure and open door, but not power failure.
The manufacturer does not state cool-down or recovery times for this line either, two figures it does publish for the compact and medium series. If the laboratory needs to require them, the unit has to be from another series.
